In this video comparison, we compare 2 Tiffany inspired diamond engagement rings from the VS and SI category in spotlighting conditions. In a well selected diamond, the inclusions are eyeclean and it is hard to discern between a VS diamond against an SI diamond.
In the video, you can see that the diamonds are extremely lively and full of fire. Under the barrage of sparkle and brilliance, can your eyes pick out any inclusions in the diamonds? Well, I can say with a high degree of certainty that most people can’t.
In fact, even without the spotlights and viewing the diamonds in a neutral environment, these diamonds are eyeclean. And it proves a point. A high clarity grade has no bearing on the appearance of the diamonds. Clarity has nothing much to do with a diamond’s brilliance or patterning but a result of careful cutting and precision.
Even though a VS and SI clarity grade is at the lower tier of the scale, you can find stunning diamonds by placing your emphasis on cut quality. These pair of Tiffany design diamond rings will outperform any branded rings and they don’t even cost half as much as what you would pay in a Tiffany store.
The caveat here is that you must be willing to put in effort to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to lower clarity stones. Cut quality is something that shouldn’t be compromised.
I hope this video has provided useful insights and cleared up any misconceptions you have about VS and SI clarity diamonds.
Now, I’m curious to know what you think. Would you buy a VS or SI diamond now? Or would you rather pay more for an IF or VVS diamond even though there is no observable differences?
